5 Hours Sleep isn't Enough
How sleep affects your athletic performance more than you know

Sorry to address the elephant in the room but yes you need to get sleep. No you cannot perform as well with out sleep. And yes the best athletes in the world sleep. Sleep is not the cousin of death. In fact it is the cousin of life. You life a better and more full life when you sleep more. For athletes this means you will perform better. Coaches you also need to sleep more. Not only will this make you healthier. You will be modeling the behavior you want to see from your athletes.

When you sleep more your body releases more testosterone and growth hormone. 2 key hormones in increasing muscle size and strength. Everyone knows that they need to sleep more. The problem is finding ways to get them to actually sleep more. Recently we spoke with Matt Mitchell, the former Director of Business Development and Partnerships for SleepMe. In article you will get some practical knowledge to help increase the duration and quality of your sleep.

Improve sleep for athletes

Sleep is a vital component of any athlete’s performance. Unfortunately, many athletes are not getting the quality or quantity of sleep they need to perform at their best. This can lead to poor cognitive abilities, increased risk of injury, and decreased career longevity. To combat this issue, SleepMe has developed a program to help athletes improve their sleep quality.

SleepMe’s program includes temperature-regulated technology and sleep coaching. Temperature-regulated technology is designed to keep the body at a comfortable temperature during sleep. This can help athletes get the deep sleep they need to stay alert and healthy. Sleep coaching is also available to help athletes identify and address any issues they may have with their sleep.

In addition, SleepMe offers a SleepMe Plus membership. This membership includes a sleep tracker that is less than a millimeter thick and can provide medical-grade accuracy for sleep staging, respiratory rate, HRV, and resting heart rate. This allows athletes to track their sleep and make any necessary adjustments.

SleepMe also offers content tools to help athletes better understand the importance of sleep. These tools explain the adverse effects of sleep loss and provide tips on how to get the optimal amount of sleep. Through these tools, athletes can learn how to maximize their sleep quality and performance.

Finally, SleepMe’s program has already had a positive impact on some athletes. For example, an all-American softball pitcher was able to increase her sleep from five hours a night to seven hours a night with the help of SleepMe’s technology. This is a great example of how SleepMe’s program can have a positive effect on an athlete’s performance.

Maintain constant sleep schedule

Maintaining good sleep hygiene is essential for athletes to get the rest they need to perform their best. Sleep hygiene is the practice of developing healthy habits that promote good sleep. These habits include avoiding caffeine and alcohol close to bedtime, eating meals at least two hours before bed, and creating a comfortable sleep environment.

Temperature is a key component of a comfortable sleep environment. SleepMe’s mattress topper and tracker helps regulate temperature to ensure athletes get the best sleep possible. The tracker also monitors sleep quality and provides feedback on how to improve it.

In addition to temperature, athletes should practice good sleep hygiene habits. This includes avoiding caffeine and alcohol close to bedtime, eating meals at least two hours before bed, and creating a comfortable sleep environment. Keeping a regular sleep schedule is also important. Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day helps the body adjust to a consistent sleep pattern.

Finally, it’s important to limit distractions and stress before bed. This means avoiding screens, such as phones and TVs, as well as any activities that may cause stress. Taking time to relax before bed with activities like reading or listening to calming music can help athletes get the sleep they need.

Maintaining good sleep hygiene is an important part of an athlete’s overall health and performance. With the right strategies and technology, athletes can get the sleep they need to perform at their best. SleepMe’s program is a great resource for any athlete looking to improve their sleep quality.

Sleep better, perform better.

Sleep is an essential part of an athlete’s overall health and performance. While sleep is often overlooked, it is one of the most important factors in an athlete’s success. Poor sleep can lead to fatigue, decreased motivation, and a decrease in performance. On the other hand, getting enough quality sleep can lead to improved performance, better decision-making, and a greater ability to handle stress.

SleepMe is a program that helps athletes improve their sleep quality and performance. The program offers customized approaches for professional sports teams, colleges, and individual athletes. SleepMe’s program includes integration with team AMS systems. Dock pro is a sleep monitoring system that tracks sleep patterns and provides feedback on how to improve sleep quality. The integration with team AMS systems allows coaches to view sleep quality data on a dashboard.

The Santa Clara women’s soccer team is a great example of the success of SleepMe’s program. After using the program for one season, the team was able to expand it to other teams for the following season. The team saw improved performance and better decision-making due to improved sleep quality.
